The word "touring" is important. When a male revue is described as a touring show, it means the group does not have a permanent home. They travel from city to city, state to state, every single weekend. They rent out a venue, perform their show, and move on to the next market the following week. They are not based in Charleston. They do not have staff here. They do not have a club here. They pass through, perform, and leave.
Many of these touring groups use local venue addresses in their advertising and online listings to make it appear as though they have a permanent Charleston location. They do not. The addresses they list are simply whatever bar, restaurant, or event space agreed to host them for that one night. When you look up those addresses, you will find that the venues are real businesses that have nothing to do with male entertainment on most nights of the year.
If you are planning a bachelorette party, birthday celebration, or girls night in Charleston and you are hoping to book something local and reliable, it is important to understand what those addresses actually are before you make plans based on them.
This address on Upper King Street is home to Sultan's, a Mediterranean restaurant and lounge.[1] Sultan's is a dining and nightlife establishment that serves Mediterranean food, cocktails, and hookah. It is located in the heart of the Upper King bar and restaurant district, one of the most active commercial blocks in downtown Charleston.[2] The building sits near the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina.[3] This is not a male entertainment venue. It is a restaurant and lounge that from time to time may host outside events, but it is not affiliated with any male revue group and it does not operate as a strip club or adult entertainment space.
28 Ann Street has had several tenants over the years, all of them nightclubs or bar concepts. Most recently the building was home to Aura Latin Club, which was shut down by the City of Charleston in 2024 after its business license was revoked.[4] The city documented multiple incidents involving assaults, underage drinking, and unlawful activity going back to when the space operated as DECO Nightclub.[5] Prior to Aura, the space also operated under Cure Nightclub and a drag show entertainment concept called Illusions.[6] None of these are male revue companies. The building is a commercial nightlife space that has cycled through different operators. It has no permanent connection to any touring male entertainment group, and as of the city's 2024 enforcement action, its most recent tenant was forced to cease operations entirely.
Garden Hill is a residential neighborhood, not a venue, a club, a bar, or any kind of commercial entertainment space.[9] Garden Hill is a subdivision located on the upper peninsula of Charleston, situated between North Charleston and the historic downtown district, and it is a community of private homes.[10] There is no event space here, no nightclub, no performance venue of any kind. A touring group listing Garden Hill as a location is not giving you a venue address. They are listing a neighborhood, which is essentially no address at all. This is the kind of vague, misleading listing that gets posted to confuse people into thinking a local show exists when it does not.
If you have seen any of these addresses connected to a touring male revue advertising in Charleston, now you know what those locations actually are. A restaurant on King Street, a troubled nightclub building on Ann Street that lost its business license, a female strip club complex in North Charleston, and a residential neighborhood. None of these are legitimate bases for a male entertainment company.
Touring groups are not local. They do not have a dedicated Charleston venue, a local booking office, or a consistent weekly presence. When they do come through town, they are renting a space for one night and moving on. If you are planning a private event and want male entertainment in the Charleston area, the most reliable option is to book a local, independently operating entertainer who is actually based here and can be vetted, communicated with in advance, and held accountable if something goes wrong.
Do your research before booking any entertainment for a private event. Ask for a local address, a local contact number, and references from recent Charleston events. If the answers are vague or the addresses do not check out, that tells you everything you need to know.
